Bucks County Playhouse has announced the initial casting of its much anticipated 2012 holiday production, It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry. Performances run from Thursday, December 13th through Sunday, December 30th at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street).

Directed by Gordon Greenberg, choreographed by Lorin Latarro, and inspired by the classic film, It’s A Wonderful Life: a Live Radio Play is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. This beloved American holiday classic, which tells the story of idealistic George Bailey as he considers his demise one fateful Christmas Eve, comes to captivating life with the help of an ensemble that brings over two dozen characters to the stage. It premiered in 1996 and has since been produced countless times around the country to critical acclaim.
It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. (www.playscripts.com).
It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is sponsored in part by ShopRite. The Bucks County Playhouse 2012 Season is supported by Vincent DiBianca, Patty Oceanak, Princeton Automobile Company, and Flemington Car and Truck Company.
It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play will play the following schedule: Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., Wednesdays at 2:00p.m and 7:30 p.m., Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. There is no matinee performance on December 13th. Located 90 minutes from New York City, the Bucks County Playhouse opened in 1939 on the site of a grist mill dating from the late eighteenth century. Ironically, the structure was at that time in danger of demolition; however playwright Moss Hart and the local community rallied to save the building and re-opened it as a theatrical venue, which quickly became one of the country’s most famous regional theaters, with a veritable who’s who of American theatrical royalty including Kim Hunter, Helen Hayes, Kitty Carlisle, Colleen Dewhurst, Shirley Booth, Lillian Gish, June Lockhart, Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, Bert Lahr, Leslie Nielsen and Walter Matthau and remained in continuous operation until December 2010. Thanks to the Bridge Street Foundation, the non-profit family foundation of Kevin and Sherri Daugherty with Tanya Cooper as President, this beloved theatrical landmark was re-opened and celebrated on July 2, 2012, exactly 73 years and day from when it originally opened in 1939.

Coming Soon - Justin to be featured with others on Drew Gasparini album
Justin and Drew Gasparini in "Rent"
by BWW News Desk
Ahead of his debut as a composer on NBC’s Smash, Drew Gasparini heads into the studio for the first time to record 17 songs with Broadway’s brightest talents.
Featuring crowd favorites from Joes Pub, NYMF, and the Kennedy Center; the album is described as an eclectic mix of semi-autobiographical numbers and progressive contemporary music theater and is musically produced by Charlie Rosen (13, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, One Man Two Guvnors).
“Drew brings together some of the coolest people working today, and I am honored to be a part of the musical madness/ferocity he creates,” says Alex Wyse, currently in rehearsals for Bare at New World Stages. Joining Wyse on the album are Jeremy Jordan (Newsies), Jennifer Damiano (Next to Normal), Justin Guarini (American Idol), Caissie Levy (Ghost), Andy Mientus (Smash), Lindsay Mendez (Godspell), F. Michael Haynie (Wicked), Andrew Kober (Hair), Rachel Potter (Addams Family), Mykal Kilgore (The Book of Mormon), Nick Blaemire (Godspell), Alex Brightman (Wicked), and Australia’s Drew Weston (Mary Poppins). In fact, recording has been such a collaborative process that sessions will be held in New York City, San Francisco and Melbourne, Australia.
“This is the album I have wanted to record for years. Finally things have aligned and I couldn’t be happier with the team we have pulled together,” says Gasparini.
The album is currently raising funds on Kickstarter. For more information please visit:

October 1 start-up - "The Justin Guarini School of Performance" at Freestyle Dance Academy
Freestyle Dance Academy is proud to announce the establishment of “The Justin Guarini School of Performance” here at Freestyle Dance Academy. The local Doylestown resident and Central Bucks/University of the Arts alum will be teaching the art of performance at FDA beginning on October 1st. After grabbing the nation’s attention as the runner-up on season 1 of American Idol, and appearing in From Justin to Kelly with season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini has gone on to do a variety of jobs in the entertainment world ranging from Broadway performer, singer, actor and television host. He now wishes to use his vast knowledge and experience to teach the performers of tomorrow.
Justin explains an improv activity
Justin spent the last week with the campers of Camp America Day Camp, as Freestyle Dance Academy was proud to host “Improv Week.” Justin spent time explain to the kids the importance and different ideas behind performance, as well as how it applies to various areas of entertainment. He worked with them on the concept of developing characters, the idea of identifying with a particular character, the concept of using movement to express themselves, improv work and much more. Justin spent Monday through Thursday with the campers in the studio providing instruction and leading them through all kinds of games and activities.
Justin discussing performance with the kids
Justin is excited to teach the stars of tomorrow, and we here at Freestyle Dance Academy are thrilled to have him as part of the cast. Thank you so much Justin for making “Improv Week” a fantastic time for all the campers, and thank you Camp America Day Camp for allowing us to share such a fun class with your kids!
Check out some of the photos below of Justin’s class. For more information on Justin’s classes here at FDA, please call or email us.
